About the Frequency table

Count how often each value appears in a column — answers in a survey, cities, product names, scores — with the percentage and the running (cumulative) percentage. Number columns with many different values are grouped into ranges, like a histogram.

How to use it

  1. Open or drop a CSV, XLS or XLSX file.
  2. Choose the column; for text you can ignore capitals, for ranges you can choose how many.
  3. Read the table with its bars, and download it as CSV.

Tip: The cumulative percentage shows how much of the data the top values cover — for example, whether three answers make up 80% of all responses.

Questions

How are the ranges chosen?

By Sturges' rule (about log₂ of the count plus one), rounded to tidy steps; you can set your own number of ranges.

Are empty cells counted?

No — they are reported separately, so the percentages are of the filled cells.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The tool runs in your browser; what you paste or open never leaves your device and nothing is stored on a server.
