About the Column analyzer

Get a quick profile of every column in a data file: how many cells are filled or empty, how many values are unique, and what type of data each column holds (numbers, dates, text). It is the fastest way to understand an unfamiliar export before you clean it, import it or analyse it.

How to use it

  1. Open a CSV or Excel file.
  2. Read the profile for each column: completeness, unique values and data type.
  3. Note the columns with missing or mixed values, then clean them in CSV Studio or Excel Studio.

Tip: A column that should be all numbers but shows as text usually has a stray symbol, space or currency sign somewhere.

Questions

What does it measure?

Completeness (filled vs. empty), uniqueness (how many different values) and the data type of each column.

Why is this useful?

It shows problems before they cause errors: missing values, IDs that are not unique, numbers stored as text.

Which files work?

CSV, XLS and XLSX.

Can I see averages and charts?

Yes, in CSV Studio's Data Lens, or send the columns to Math Studio for statistics.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The file is opened and processed in your browser; it never leaves your device and nothing is stored on a server.
