Shrink PNG images for the web by converting them to WebP, keeping transparent backgrounds. Free, and nothing leaves your device.

- Use it: https://cromagnon.app/convert/png-to-webp (free, runs in the browser)

## What it does

WebP supports transparency like PNG but produces much smaller files, so it's a common choice for logos, product photos and website graphics. All current browsers display WebP.

## How to use it

1. Drop your PNG files on the box above, or click to choose them.
2. WebP is selected; transparent areas stay transparent. Use a high quality (90 or more) for logos and text.
3. Download the WebP files, or all of them as a ZIP.

## Questions

### Are my photos uploaded?

No. The converting happens in your browser, on your own device, so the pictures never reach a server.

### Is transparency kept?

Yes. Transparent and semi-transparent areas stay that way in the WebP.

### How much smaller will it be?

It depends on the image. Photos saved as PNG often shrink a lot; small flat graphics shrink less. The list shows each file's new size.

### Is it lossless?

The converter saves lossy WebP with the quality you choose. At 90 or above, differences are very hard to see.
